"As we can see, today we are in a much worse situation than we were when the Socialist Party was in power, and we are witnessing a degrading spectacle of various government structures shifting their responsibilities from one to the other, from defense to health, from health to defense. There is a lack of a structured plan for hospital emergencies," said José Luís Carneiro.
The PS secretary-general, who was speaking to journalists in Lousada, in the Porto district, where he participated in the presentation of Nelson Oliveira as a candidate for the City Council in the local elections on October 12, anticipated that the topic of health and emergencies is one of those that will be discussed in the State of the Nation.
"I want to say that this is one of the topics that we will take to the State of the Nation debate, but I will tell the Prime Minister that, if the Government does not have the competence to present a response, the Socialist Party will present a response for the coordination of hospital emergencies ," he said.
For José Luís Carneiro, what is happening in healthcare "is an illustration of a serious lack of coordination between different State services and shows how serious the Government's decision was to jeopardize a reform that was underway and adopted by the Socialist Party Government."
"This Government broke with the reform that was underway, dismissed the person responsible for the executive structure of the NHS and moved forward with experimental measures," he criticized.

The PS secretary-general advised the Government today to meet "as quickly as possible" with representatives of the sectors that he believes will be "greatly affected" by the tariffs imposed by Washington and to study "mitigation measures now."
